description: | The Bicknell quadrangle lies astride the Thousand Lake fault zone in south-central Utah and includes the small town of Bicknell in Rabbit Valley. The western half of the quadrangle contains Oligocene and Miocene volcanic rocks of the gently east-tilted Awapa Plateau, which are juxtaposed by the fault against Mesozoic strata famously exposed at nearby Capitol Reef National Park. Large Quaternary landslides that slid on weak tuffaceous strata cover the flanks of nearby Thousand Lake Mountain and Boulder Mountain. |
